Suburban Housing Opportunities Program

The Greater Rochester Housing Partnership is transforming vacant suburban properties into fully renovated for-sale homes. Foreclosures are a growing trend in Monroe County outside of the City of Rochester. Working with Monroe County and various towns, we are identifying and purchasing deteriorated single-family housing for rehabilitation and resale to low and moderate income home buyers.

SHOP houses are renovated prior to sale to eligible buyers. Lead based paint hazards are removed. Kitchen and baths are renovated or replaced. Roofs, hot water heater, furnaces are all inspected and repaired or replaced as needed. SHOP transforms eyesores into assets and puts home owners into neighborhoods. Financing

SHOP acquisition and construction financing is provided by the Greater Rochester Housing Partnership. Financial assistance in creating SHOP was provided by the Fannie Mae Foundation, HSBC Bank USA, N.A., Community Development Department and Citi Foundation.

Subsidy is provided by New York State Homes &
Community Renewal.
